Community servers are organised around a shared purpose or interest: a club, a cause, a subject, a reading list or a fandom. They need information that is easy to find, discussions that respect spoilers and pace, and a clear way for members to take part.
Organised discussion, often in forum posts or threads, so answers and topics stay findable
Opt-in interest and event roles instead of server-wide pings
Spoiler or pace control where members read, watch or study at different speeds
Separate spaces for organisers, mentors or event hosts
Choosing between them
Choose Community Basecamp for clubs and volunteer-run groups built around events and decisions; The Study Club when members study together and hold each other accountable; Book Club for reading one book at a time with scheduled meetings; and Anime Fan Community for a larger fandom with seasonal series, watch parties and fan art.
Best for: Communities with an organising team and recurring events; Groups that repeatedly answer the same questions; Communities that want members' suggestions to be visibly tracked.
Not ideal for: A small friend group — Cozy Corner or Pixel Party are simpler.
Best for: Reading one book at a time on a shared schedule; Members who read at different paces; Clubs that meet live (in voice or in person) to discuss.
Not ideal for: Fandoms following many series at once — use Anime Fan Community.
Best for: Discussing several airing series at once without spoilers; Communities where some members read the source material ahead of the anime; Regular watch parties and seasonal events.
Not ideal for: Small friend groups watching one show together — Cozy Corner is simpler.

Community server questions
What makes a good community Discord server?
Clear information at the top, a small number of active channels, discussions organised so they don't get lost, and visible, consistent moderation. Starting with too many channels makes a server feel empty.
Do community servers need Community features enabled?
Not always. Book Club, Basecamp, Study Club and Anime Fan Community use Discord's Community features for forum channels, Announcement channels or Community Onboarding. Becoming a Community server does not make it public or listed in Server Discovery by itself.
How do I stop spoilers in a Discord server?
Give each episode, chapter or checkpoint its own post or thread, ask people to use spoiler tags elsewhere, and gate ahead-of-schedule discussion (such as manga spoilers) behind an opt-in role.
