Roleplay servers need things other communities don't: separate in-character and out-of-character spaces, lore people can find, secrets only the game master sees, and clear consent and content boundaries. These templates cover a small tabletop campaign and a large persistent roleplay world.
A persistent text-roleplay world: lore, character applications, in-character locations, out-of-character spaces, consent guidelines, events and an archive.
In-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) channels kept separate
Read-only lore and campaign information maintained by staff or the GM
Game-master or staff-only areas for secrets and planning
Consent and content boundaries written into the rules
Choosing between them
Choose TTRPG Campaign for a fixed group playing sessions together, usually in voice, with one game master. Choose Roleplay World Hub for a larger, ongoing text-roleplay community with character applications, many locations and events.
Best for: One campaign with a fixed group of three to eight players; Online play in voice with maps or a virtual tabletop shared on screen; GMs who need private prep and secret handouts.
Not ideal for: Large text-roleplay communities with many players and locations — use Roleplay World Hub.
Best for: Ongoing worlds with dozens or hundreds of writers; Communities that approve characters before they play; Worlds with many locations and storyline events.
Not ideal for: A fixed group playing sessions with one game master — use TTRPG Campaign.

Roleplay server questions
How do I separate in-character and out-of-character chat?
Give them separate channels or categories, label IC channels clearly, and agree a convention such as double brackets for brief OOC notes inside IC channels. Moderators should treat IC conflict and OOC conduct differently.
Where should game-master notes go?
In a category that denies View Channels for @everyone and allows only the GM or storyteller roles. Anyone who can see a channel can copy or screenshot it, so keep secrets out of shared spaces.
